Turning love and compassion towards oneself can be extremely challenging given the messages that we receive both at home and in our wider society. In the context of a culture that often reinforces what we lack, it can be easy to create a subtle perspective that sees ourselves as “not enough.”
Conversely, the desire to be some form of a permanent good, while our bodies and minds are in a state of constant change, can create the conditions for deep suffering. It is important to learn and know that you are enough.
In this sit and discussion with mindfulness teacher Ofosu Jones-Quartey, we will examine the attitudes that we harbor about ourselves that lead to suffering. We will look at ways that we can observe our lives with wisdom and compassion to overcome our self-doubt and negative self-perceptions in order to bring forth true happiness from within.
The session will include silent meditation, a dharma talk, and a brief time Q and A.
